How do you keep members in your guild?
I have been running a guild with some friends since the release of the game. We have 4 core members (plus some others that have stayed but don't play often) - which is great, but we have been trying to build our guild, so we can do some GvG and PvP and help others on quests and missions for fun.
We have only been inviting players that we have played with and thought would fit into our group well, and at first they seem really into it, but they all end up leaving for some reason or another, and I just can't figure it out. Some even leave the next day - right after they have joined! We play everyday, we help with quests if they need it, it they need items or money etc. we are happy to help them out. We have a Guild Hall, Cape & a website www.dreamofeagles.com and we have a TS server set-up. But what gives? How do you keep members in your guild, any help or tips, I think we are a good bunch and good players. People want to GVG and tombs in guild groups. Thats the number one reason that pvp people join guilds for. If you recruit a pvp player and they find out you don't GVG and you don't Tombs how long do you expect them to stay?

I pay my members to stay
Joke, lol ner all my guild members are good friends i have made in GW most of them i have known for about 9 months and talk to them a lot on TS, i don't want random PuG's in my guild it is just all people i know well who i let join. |

Dont recruit when asking for help...if I was in your guild...I would be leaving right now.
But really...people keep people. The bigger your guild, the more people stay. |

Just be nice to your members, ask them if they want to GvG, dont pressure them, and definently dont take in beggars

I didn't want to build a guild by broadcasting it in towns and spamming that we are looking for recruits, it's nice to get to know these players first, I understand many people have built guilds this way - by mass recruiting and weeding out the bad from the good, maybe that's the only way to do it. |

Invest in your newest guild members. Help them with what they need help with, spend time with them and make sure they'll be interested in doing the same for new members in the future.
Get to know each other. Joke around on guild chat, get together on TS/Vent even if you're not in a party together. Learn their real names, where their from, or what they do for a living. Become better players yourselves. Know the game and what does/doesn't work. Invite one or two pick-ups into an all guild group. See if the player fits with your guild and if so don't be afraid to invite them to change guilds. Even if they don't ask if you can friendlist them and make sure to keep up with your friends. You sound like you're doing it right, just stick to it. |

I usally try merging Guilds....Some take up on some dont....
Actually only 1,lol....a small group with a small group... and now we are a big small group |

Set a code of conduct, and stick to it. Guilds have to have values and rules to live by.
People want structure and leadership. Give them options and aske them questions. Make your officers be active at leading. You have members and one officer on, the officer should ask what everybody is doing, if he/she can help. If there isn't much going on suggest doing something. "Hey want to do a SF run?" "Anybody want to come do "The Wilds" with me" or even "Hey you guys want to try out Team Areans". You sound like a PvE guild to me, so advertise as one. "Close nitt PvE guild looking to add a few more members to the family." |

When I was a Guild Leader for seven months (left the guild now for political reasons) I spent a *lot* of time talking to my members in forums and MSN. Even if we didn't party together they still felt appreciated and part of the group because their Guild Leader was actively involved and interested in what they were doing. In time they developed their own relationships with others in the Guild, so when more members came in and other issues needed addressed, they understood that I had other things to attend to in the interest of the Guild and they had already been 'sucked into' the guild at that point.

I spend a tremendous amount of time interacting with different folks on the forums, in chat, in game, on TS, and in messages. I honestly spend probably 4 to 5 times as much time doing this as I do playing the game anymore. People have issues they want to talk about all the time it seems, and the more people you have the more things that come up. I try to make people feel that they are important to both me and the guild. And even though people do leave, I still try to keep on good terms with them. The bottom line for us now is that while we always do have people moving on, we also have more people wanting to join. A lot of former members still recommend us to others, even if they themselves have decided to move on.

Just do something that connects the guild together and makes it so that everyone gets something from being in the guild.
That can be helping them with quests and missions, doing gvg, doing tombs, team farming, etc. Kind of simple really. |
